Hindsight

Hindsight

“It's so difficult, isn't it? To see what's going on when you're in the absolute middle of something? It's only with hindsight we can see things for what they are.” ― S.J. Watson, Before I Go to Sleep

I have so many ideas for new paintings floating around in my thoughts as I see wispy morning clouds against bright blue skies, colorful wildflowers and garden flowers and my sweet companion animals rolling in the grass. But my art has stayed in my heart most of the summer as I devote my time to my sport of choice, riding my horse, Windy, in endurance competitions.

And in hindsight, I would not do anything differently. My heart is big enough for all the ideas to collect there, waiting for release onto paper. I see that I am doing exactly what I should be doing. I'm collecting views of sweeping landscapes, glistening, athletic horses, storm clouds and wilderness sunsets as I challenge myself and my horse with rides of 25 to 50 miles in a day. And these experiences feed my soul, my heart and eventually, my art.
