Let it Snow!
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
I feel so peaceful and content when the snow falls. Even the other day when I was in the "city", 90 minutes from home, and snow started falling and quickly accumulating and I started thinking of slippery highways and mountain passes, I found a calm reassurance that Mother Nature knew what she was doing. I carefully drove home but delighted in the clean, soft white all around me. And I was disappointed as I got closer to home that the skies cleared and there was no new snow.
The snow wraps our environment in quiet and clean white. I can imagine, as Lewis Carroll says, that the snow is a quilt and all below is protected, snug and sleepy. When it's cold, that "quilt" of snow sparkles, like nature's glitter, in the sunshine and the moonlight, celebrating winter.
I hope you find a way to celebrate winter and its gentle kisses!
